Sony PSP 2000 Slim vs PSP 3000 - Review

The latest Sony PSP Slim 3000 has caused quite a controversy among new PSP owners who purchased their Sony PSP Slim 2000 units in recent months. It's not even been a year since Sony released the PSP Slim 2000, with its greatest feature is the ability to connect to a TV via the AV output. Many are claiming that Sony's latest addition to its handheld family should not even be considered an upgrade of the current model. Let's take a deeper look at the features of the PSP 3000.

The 3000 has been presented at a conference in Leipzig last week's game. The unit has the exact same size counterpart, the Slim 2000. However, there are some updates. Sony gave the PSP 3000 a new anti-glare screen, which should make the game the PSP, while outside a little 'more bearable. This new LCD screen also has a wider palette of colors than the old model, which represents a brighter, more vibrant image. Along with this new screen, Sony has added a built-in microphone to 3000, which will allow many people who have access to WiFi hotspots scattered through-out a large city to use the PSP as a phone-like device with the built in Skype software.

In addition to these hardware enhancements, the Slim 3000 also has some cosmetic improvements as well. The 'HOME' no longer exists, as has been replaced by a button PSN. It works exactly like the old button, but instead has the Playstation logo instead of 'HOME' the word. In addition, the ring of brushed aluminum, which has been described both on the PSP Fat, as is now known, and the PSP Slim has been replaced with a ring more polished and chromed thinner. The edges of the PSP 3000 have been smoothed a bit 'so that you feel more comfortable while holding.

Sony PSP 3000 will be available next October, with the colors Piano Black and Mystic Silver. All in all, if you're already a proud owner of PSP 2000 Slim, you might want to skip this as an anti-glare screen is just a major update, if you're playing a lot while outside. However, if you're looking to buy a PSP, the 3000 is the way to go .......
