Moving Your Web Site in a New Web Host
Switching Web Hosts
There are many reasons that may make you decide to switch to a new web host, customer service poor or unreliable servers that they need additional features not supported by your current host.
The initial decision to swap may seem a huge step and you can be forgiven for a bit 'of trepidation, but if you follow the tips here you should find the transition to be smooth so that your customers / visitors will not even be aware of have switched.
Before lighting, ensure that the new host you have chosen to meet all the roles expected of it, that your company has room to grow and customer service, control panel and other features are of your like, once it is established that you should take out a new contract - known not cancel your old contract yet, you must make sure you have everything configured and running on new server before you cancel your old contract. In this way all you have to do is change the DNS and your site is up and running as soon as the domain is re-emphasized.
Most web hosts will provide a means by which you can access the server before changing the DNS, you should be able to upload your site via ftp, go to control panel and use it to set up your site and e-mail in preparation for activation.
Once this has been achieved you are ready to re-point your domain to the new DNS to do this you need to get the address of your new DNS there are generally two, which should look like this:
N1.NEWHOST.COM
N2.NEWHOST.COM
Note that it may take up to 72 hours before the passage everything is complete, since even if the updates of the domain name server immediately (that is not usually the case) it takes time for the router around the internet to update the their DNS database.
Your site is up and running and you are satisfied with it, you can cancel your old subscription.
This process, if followed should result in a smooth exchange with little or no downtime, as the router will send your domain or server and have both your web site on them ....
