8 elements important for small business Web sites

Key visitors to your web pages include commercial robots that crawl the Internet and catalog content. Having the right HTML source code, plus the right combination of text and graphic presentation, is only one secret to success. Appropriate code can mean robots highest ratings, and the "look" is just as important. Once you find a new perspective on your website, you have 5 seconds to make them stay.

As an owner of a small business website, you may have asked "Why do not you get any results?". Did you know that web pages can load and appear correctly with incorrect or deprecated HTML? A browser may ignore your mistakes, and see what they think you meant, and can look great. Robot Web may not be as forgiving.

Below is a list of 8 basic elements of good search engine placement to be considered in the design and website promotion. For detailed information on the issues of code by the worldwide, visit the Consortium for the World Wide Web to view the DOCTYPE and other quality standards.

1. DOCTYPE

2. Title of the page

3. HTML code correctly

4. META Description

5. META keywords

6. , First paragraph of the Home Page

7. An additional page of just LINKS

8. Backlinks (links to pages)

These 8 key elements are missing or poorly planned in 85% of all websites. Some search engines may list the other 15% in their directories. In other words, although only 15% of the 6 billion web pages online never make it in some search engines. Even worse, there are errors that may result in your page being blacklisted, and search engine web crawlers can never go back to see if it is correct. This may explain why "never getting any results."

Websites can be simple and professional, without using fancy software to create your pages. Veteran programmers code by hand and create a lot of HTML code in Notepad. Web authors who choose to use the flash, frames, or the latest software can lose a significant portion of new visitors (customers) because the visitor may lack the technology or the latest version of the browser. If you are off and leave without giving your site a correct picture, it could mean the loss of profits.

Most designers use the packaged software for creating web pages. If the software leaves out none of the key elements, the code is hidden, and you'll never know your site is not optimized for search engines. The designer can not know, or care about these items until the page looks attractive. Note: the algorithms of search engines vary by company, so some things like "an extra page of links" might not be as important today with some search engines. Backlinks refer to marketing your site and get other websites to link to yours.

Finally, business visitors want information. Do not visit your home to be entertained. Most have a need (problem) and want a fast response (solution), and designs should be created to minimize the use of music or video unless that is your core business. Anything that distracts from a positive first impression can violate my "5 Second Rule" .......
