Sitting can be always shorten their life expectancy and increase in fat
Many of us spend hours a day sitting in a chair. I'm sitting at a time when I write this post. This seems like a natural part of life and nothing to worry about if you are otherwise also active. However, this can not be true. The fact is that the chair, or the act of sitting on it, you can shorten your life expectancy ... or you can just make you fat increase.
I learned about this topic to read an article on the New York Times website that spoke of several studies conducted on the effects of a sedentary lifestyle. What caught my attention in this article were two things:
1. The discussion of the session, more or less outside training. The work focused on the lifestyle we lead active or inactive through most of our days. Whether you spend a part of our time focusing on exercise seems to be of little importance.
2. In one of the studies mentioned in the article, found that people who sit for 6 hours every day have a mortality rate that is up to 40% higher than people who feel less than 3 hours.
This second part caught my eye and I said to myself: "It's my chair really is killing me?"
Since I could not expect any clear answer from my chair I decided to do some of my own research and see what they say relevant studies on the effects of sitting long and what, if anything, people can do about it.
Why this is a problem now?
Since there has been president for hundreds of years, the question arises: why is becoming a problem for us today?
The answer is simple: We are much more than people did in previous generations. This has several causes:
1. Most of us work in sedentary jobs. There are fewer farmers and artisans who work with their hands or do manual labor. More people than ever spend their working day sitting at a desk.
2. Our transport is made to sit. Back in the day cars were rare. People had to walk more. Today, there are people who take their car anywhere, no matter how short the distance.
3. Our leisure time is more sedentary. Among the games TV, Internet and video, just sit for hours more than ever.
Research sedentary lifestyle - What makes you sit
I want to tell you how prolonged sitting reviewing affect waist circumference. In simple terms, the researchers wanted to see if people who sat for a long time tended to be fatter than those without.
The study found that people who avoid sitting for a long time in a stretch of active rest, tended less weight, had a thin waist, and did better on certain health criteria.
OK, so what? People who were less active gained more weight than those who were active. Is not it logical? Yes it is. However, the details get a clearer picture and more disturbing.
This study clearly establishes that taking breaks helps improve your health no matter how long you sit in total, irrespective of whether or not training. Therefore, just because it happens to make a routine from time to time, does not sit for hours is a good thing.
Another study found that, in Cambridge, UK, noted men and 365 women over a period of 5 years and examined for signs of insulin resistance and the correlation between signs and a sedentary lifestyle. What the study found? People who sit a lot tend to develop insulin resistance (a symptom of diabetes), even if they engage in moderate exercise intensity. Therefore, the development is not enough. It is necessary to lead an active life or you may still face health problems.
A third study I read, examined the relationship between physical inactivity and metabolic syndrome, a condition that refers to a variety of diseases and health risks. What we found is that people with metabolic syndrome spent more hours sitting on average and tended to have more time to sit without interruption. They rise from his chair less frequently than people with better health. Note that the significantly increased risk for sedentary people, so this is something worth considering.
What can be done to stop the chair of shortening of life
1. Getting in and out of your chair - Take frequent breaks and assets. If you must work with a timer to do it. Get a table stand, be sure to walk a few minutes each hour, up from his couch during commercial breaks. Anything to move.
2. Think of "active" - Inactivity causes fat to increase. There is ample evidence of this. Being more active is much easier to maintain your weight or even lose a few pounds. Small activities burn some calories each, but together add up to much ..
3. Get active hobbies that force you to stand, dance, bowling, billiards, Tai Chi, all these activities out of his chair.
So, in conclusion, do your chair a permanent basis. It is necessary to avoid sitting for long at a time and reducing total sedentary time. This is a key to better health and less body fat.
