Coaching What Is And What It Used For?
Coaching is a process of training and learning, a discipline that emerged in the beginning closely linked to sport, where the coach accompanies a person or team to achieve the desired results.
Over time, the practice of sports coaching transcended space and drew on various schools of thought (*), opening the possibility for all people and organizations in general, to work aspects of their development from this approach.
Coaching works to narrow the gap between the Customer's current situation and what it aims to achieve, increasing its capacity for effective action, their level of awareness and responsibility for their behavior.
Coaching Staff
Generally the starting point of a process of Personal Coaching is a goal that the client can not reach or a situation of change which can not be addressed. The issues raised may be related to personal, social, family or professionals.
Through a series of talks in a reflexive space, the coach accompanies the client in exploring the situation and design a clear plan of action, to take you to achieve specific objectives, always from a strategy developed jointly.
Although the way is the most classic face, is increasing the number of people who take distance-type sessions using chat options, e-mail, telephone or video conference, for the flexibility offered by this alternative. The length of a coaching process depends on the specific needs of each client, of the areas you want to work, the complexity of its objectives, its pace and learning style. As a guideline we can estimate an average duration of the process from 3 to 6 months, given a weekly meeting.
. Coaching in Business
In business coaching practice is used as a methodology to obtain specific results and attitudinal changes in their employees, both individually and in groups. Some of the most common concerns that arise in the pursuit of its application are: opportunities for improvement in communications or interpersonal relations, performance appraisals that are below the expectations of the company, unmotivated employees, or the need to find a tool to help meet challenging goals.
Executive Coaching is focused on the role played by a director, manager, supervisor, etc.., Can be ordered by itself or be a proposal made by the company. In the latter case is essential for the process to be viable, the consent of the coach (person receiving coaching) and link their personal interests with those of the employer, in a framework that ensures confidentiality. It works with an action plan aligned with the company and agreed indicators.
On the coach's practice
- A Coach is not pathology, when his client is showing signs of psychological conflicts suggests a visit to a psychologist or a professional psychotherapist. However, considering the particular case, a person can work with both professionals simultaneously, since their domains of action are different.
- A coach assumes the client has the resources necessary for its development, overcoming deadlocks limits or the coach is his companion in the process, suggesting activities for reflection, analysis, and to generate the same Customer enable the means to design your way and move on.
- The coach does not teach or suggest, this is one of the main differences with other disciplines to prioritize the transmission of knowledge.
- The Coach does not give solutions, working with learning rather than teaching. Customer will not learn from Coach, learns about himself.
- A coach acts as a facilitator for your customer to question their reality and discover what is most convenient for him.
- In a coaching process the coach-client relationship is a partnership of equals that is based on trust and mutual respect, where both are partners in the achievement of specific objectives, chosen solely by the Customer.
