A Home Business Versus a Brick and Mortar Business

We always had our ear to the ground for some kind of a home business. We wanted to be able to spend more time with our family and do the things we love, and every time we wanted on our terms. Therefore, we sought a franchise and, alas, the irony of a franchise such as McDonalds, Starbucks or Baja Fresh is that you must be a millionaire to own one of these! The requirements that have a potential franchisee is that the equity should already be in the seven-figure range before they consider worthy of owning one. Well, this would not happen for us.

So then we looked into cutting edge companies that were not already saturated market. The most natural thing to consider was one of the important things in the news these days: energy savings. We examined a number of occasions where you were essentially a master dealer for a producer who has produced devices that greatly reduced energy costs especially for businesses. Unfortunately, these were small devices that you had to have a qualified electrician install expert. But it was not the player. The cost of these small devices that use of optimized energy was $ 35k up. During the due diligence, we immediately started to realize this would be a hard sell to small business owners who have difficulty swallowing a perceived ROI (return on investment) for 5 years or so. So, here we were still looking.

Then, we started exploring the internet home based business. Soon he began to make sense to us the more we looked into it. Here's how we evaluate a home business than a bricks and mortar.

# 1: There is no head with a home business. It means that no truck rental, no wages, no workers comp, no utilities, no rental housing, etc.

# 2: tax benefits. It is legitimate to write from your computer, printer, telephone, home office, etc. as a business expense.

# 3: Flexible hours and not commuters. You can work whenever you want and how you want. In his pajamas, after working in the middle of the day, while on vacation, whatever. It's called your own shots.

# 4: Quality of life and liberty of the time. We personally wanted to spend more time with our children and watching them grow. If you accomplish something in 4 hours, there is no need to waste time and sit around for another 4 hours of waiting for the whistle (so to speak) at the end of the day to leave.

# 5: Most home businesses do not require an enormous cost in advance to get started. This can vary depending on the home business choice for you, but it is not going to be unreachable, or breaking the bank with most brick and mortar businesses.

In short, if you're looking to start your own business, consider all options. But given what we learned - and we're just ordinary average family - the home business is the way to go. Consider what is important to you and evaluate the opportunities based on that .......
